The cell phone is the computer
One of the mobile phones that I am using right now is a Nokia N80 Internet Edition. The Nokia cell phone is a Quad band GSM cellular phone with EDGE, 3G and Wifi.
This means that for most part of the “connected” world I won’t have any problem using it to communicate. I can talk using ordinary voice calls or make video calls and even VoIP internet calls. I can send SMS text messages, MMS messages and even email.
It also has music and video playback capabilities that allow me to listen to my favorite music, watch movies, even video streaming movies. It also allows me to take photos and videos, chat on the Internet, read electronic books, store my personal photos and videos, maintain a personal address book, calendar/diary, jot down notes and tasks, play games — lots and lots of games :-), even create movies and do basic photo editing, read and write email, surf the web, do instant messaging, share my photos/music, blog, check the time and day in different cities of the world, setup alarms for tasks/wake-up time/appointments, use it as a calculator, use it as a voice recorder …
If the above list doesn’t describe your computer well why don’t you tell me what’s missing. Less than a decade ago, I would need a desktop computer and several other electronic devices to do all that and I can’t even put it in my pocket (or I’ll probably need a VERY BIG POCKET).
