Lot's of cables and dongles

I use a notebook computer for a major part of my work. I sometimes wondered why I have to use a notebook and still lose being mobile because of the horde of cables and dongles I need to connect to my notebook.

I need to put attached an external hard disc, a wireless mouse, cables for synchronizing my IPAQ, usb cable for a printer, usb cable for my Nokia cellular phone, bluetooh dongle, extra USB hub for connecting the USB cables that I just mentioned. It’s seems there’s no end to all the cables.

I have often pondered on making the “perfect” dock for my notebook — just a single USB connection and I will have all of the above devices connected to my notebook. A notebook dock with a single USB cable to connect the bluetooth, external hard disk, printer, web cam, sync stations for Ipods, sync stations for Nokia and other cell phones and all the other things I need to connect to my notebook.

It would be nice if there is a standard that includes connecting video, audio and even power to my notebook using just a single cable (I wish) ;-).

Do you have the same sentiments that I have?
