Creating Ortigas Online

A few years back I decided to put up the web site ortigas.com and call it Ortigas Online. Ortigas Online is basically a web site that contains a map of Ortigas Center and a directory of streets, buildings, shops, malls and offices in the Ortigas area. I started the site because I used to work in the area and wanted to compile information about Ortigas Center that I could use whenever I need to.

Things has changed a lot since then. Now I am envisioning to make Ortigas Online as a web site that will provide the Ortigas community with a hub for business. There are lots of call centers and IT outfits in the Ortigas Center area. Having a virtual hub for business would help other people know more about their products and services on the Internet.

For instance, if someone from outside the Philippines would want to go to Ortigas for a business meeting the person would want to know information about hotels and rates, location of the office where the meeting will be held.

That person would also want to know what food is available in the Ortigas area and where to eat, where is the nearest ATM from the hotel, where to buy a cell phone SIM card to use for local mobile communications, which places to unwind after work, where to shop for clothes, what to buy and take back home.

Another situation that Ortigas Online would be helpful for example is if a call center agent working on a graveyard shift wants to have a night snack. It would help if the call center agent can find out which food shops are still open and can probably order online.

Its a gargantuan vision from my point of view but I’m gettng there. This year I aim to put a classified ads section, put more information about offices online and hopefully start online ordering and shopping.
