Apple's new Macbook announced

Apple MacBook Air 4You’ll just love Apple’s new MacBook Air. It’s ultra-thin (and I mean ULTRA). I don’t think it can get any thinner. The new Apple MacBook Air comes with a 13.3 inch display.

It’s a notebook encased in the 0.16 to 0.76 inch anodized aluminum. Weighing at just 3.0 pounds, the notebook is ultra-portable. The 13.3-inch widescreen is LED backlit at a 1280-by-800 resolution.

If you’re a traveler, you’ll just love the MacBook Air. But wait there’s more. Apple has put backlighting on the keyboard and together with an ambient light detector both the display and keyboard backlighting automatically adjusts itself depending on the surrounding light — it will definitely do wonders when you’re on the airplane.

It just doesn’t stop — the touchpad, it’s multi-touch. You’ll be able to do finger gestures to allow you to navigate, zoom-in or rotate objects.

Other features include USB 2.0, micro-DVI, an 80GB hard drive (with an option to upgrade to a 64GB SSD) and a webcam. It uses a smaller footprint Intel Core 2 Duo chip running at 1.6Ghz or 1.8Ghz depending on the model. And a 5-hour battery life.

The Apple MacBook Air is born wireless. It has 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR for connecting the MacBook Air on the Internet and other devices.

Even software installs are done wirelessly. You’ll need a Mac with an optical disc. After installing software on the optical disc equipped Mac, you’ll then be able to access the disc on the MacBook Air.

Apple has really outdone itself on this one. What’s next? I can just imagine the next Apple MacBook — an ultra-tablet with a multi-touch enabled touch screen display!
